There’s a certain kind of magic in returning to a family you’ve photographed year after year — like stepping back into a story you already adore, only to find the characters have grown in the most delightful ways.
This was my fourth session with the wonderful Mignemi crew, and this time I had the joy of driving down to Bowral on a stunning November afternoon. The hills were glowing, the air felt warm and calm, and the whole landscape seemed to welcome us in with open arms.
And the kids? Bigger, bolder, and absolutely bursting with personality. The classic “swing between Mum and Dad” move is now more of a team effort, and Dad’s famous “throw them in the air” trick has definitely become a full‑body workout. But the laughter that follows — that hasn’t changed one bit.
What I love most about this family is how their bond stays beautifully steady, even as the kids shoot up in height and confidence. They still tumble into group hugs, still tease each other with that familiar sibling sparkle, and still look to Mum and Dad with the same warmth and trust that’s been there since our very first session.
We wandered through golden light, chased each other across grassy fields, and soaked up every bit of that Bowral glow. The kids brought their usual spark — loud, playful, wonderfully unpredictable — while their parents anchored the chaos with love and cuddles.
Watching this family grow has been one of those rare privileges that makes this job feel bigger than photography. Each year adds a new layer to their story, and I’m grateful I get to witness it unfold.
