There are moments in this job that feel like stepping back into a story you already love, and meeting baby Piper was one of them. Just two years ago, I was photographing her parents on their wedding day — full of excitement, promise, and that unmistakable glow of two people beginning a life together. Walking into their home again, this time to meet their tiny daughter, felt incredibly special.
Piper was the picture of calm from the moment I arrived. All curled up, soft and sleepy, with those delicate newborn features that make your heart melt instantly. Her parents moved around her with such tenderness — the kind of quiet, instinctive love that grows in the early days of becoming a family. Watching them settle into this new role felt like witnessing the next beautiful chapter of a story I’d already had the privilege of capturing.
The session unfolded gently, with warm cuddles, tiny stretches, and those fleeting newborn expressions that disappear almost as quickly as they arrive. Piper nestled into her parents’ arms like she’d always belonged there, and the whole room carried that peaceful, love‑soaked stillness that only a newborn can bring.
What struck me most was how natural they were together. The same connection I saw on their wedding day — the way they looked at each other, the way they laughed, the way they held onto the moment — was still there, only now it wrapped around their daughter too. It was tender, grounding, and incredibly beautiful to photograph.
As I farewelled them after our session, I couldn’t help but feel grateful. Being invited back into a couple’s space to document their growing family is one of the greatest honours of this work. Baby Piper is already so loved, and I’m thrilled I got to capture her early weeks in the world
