Gordon & Maddison — A Sweet, Sunlit Engagement Session at Maroubra Beach

Some love stories grow quietly, steadily, and with the kind of ease that only comes from truly knowing one another. Gordon and Maddison’s story began back in high school, introduced through friends, long before either of them knew just how significant that moment would become. Nine years later, they’re still choosing each other — and their engagement session at Maroubra Beach was a beautiful celebration of that journey.

In February 2024, Gordon planned a simple, heartfelt proposal that suited them perfectly. He took Maddison out for bagels, one of their favourite little rituals, and then led her to a nearby park for a picnic. Surrounded by sunshine, snacks, and the familiar comfort of being together, he asked her to marry him. No big production, no elaborate setup — just a genuine moment between two people who’ve built their relationship on love, laughter, and shared everyday joys.

Their engagement session carried that same relaxed, meaningful energy. Maroubra Beach greeted us with a soft, cloudy sky — no dramatic sunset, no golden glow, just a calm, even light that made the whole afternoon feel peaceful and intimate. The muted tones of the ocean and the grey horizon created a beautifully understated backdrop, letting their connection take centre stage. The way they look at each other after nearly a decade together says everything — steady, warm, and full of excitement for what comes next. They’re dreaming of settling down, starting a family, and embracing all the chapters ahead with the same loyalty and tenderness that’s carried them this far.

There’s something incredibly special about photographing a couple who’ve grown up together. Their connection feels effortless. Their smiles come easily. Their story is woven through years of memories, inside jokes, and the kind of trust that only time can create.

Gordon and Maddison’s session was a reminder that love doesn’t need grand gestures to be extraordinary. Sometimes it’s bagels, a picnic in the park, and a promise to keep choosing each other through every season of life.

I’m already so excited to photograph their wedding day next year and capture the next chapter of their story. And if you’re planning your own wedding and dreaming of heartfelt, relaxed storytelling photography, I’d love to chat about bringing your vision to life.
