If there were awards for “most enthusiastic arrival to a photo session,” the Kim family would’ve taken home the trophy. The moment we met at Maroubra Beach, the kids were already buzzing — the kind of excited energy that tells you the evening is about to be a whole lot of fun.
Maroubra put on an absolute show for us. The mix of soft greenery meeting warm sand gave us the dreamiest backdrop, and the sky was already warming up for a sunset that looked like it had been painted with every shade of gold and peach. Add two energetic kids, a few fun running races, and a windy afternoon to stir up the giggles, suddenly the whole beach felt alive.
The kids ran circles around us — exploring Maroubra’s rock pools, chasing bubbles, making wishes on dandelion fuzz, and laughing so hard they could barely stand still. Mum and Dad were right there in the middle of it all, joining the fun with that easy, joyful warmth that makes family sessions feel effortless. Every moment was a mix of movement and magic: hands reaching out to pop floating bubbles, sandy feet kicking up little clouds, and the kind of laughter that carries across the shoreline.
As the sun dipped lower, the whole beach glowed. The kids kept playing, the parents kept smiling, and the light enveloped them like it was part of the family too. It was one of those evenings where everything just clicked — the weather, the energy, the connection, the colour, all of it.
By the time we wrapped up, everyone was sandy, glowing, and still laughing — the perfect ending to a session that felt more like a celebration than a photoshoot. The Kims brought the fun, Maroubra brought the magic, and together they created a sunset story I won’t forget.
