The Hayter Family — Rooftop Sunshine, City Adventures & Holiday Magic

Some sessions feel like stepping into a memory you didn’t realise you’d been missing, and that’s exactly how it felt seeing Brooke again after almost twenty years. We grew up together, and watching her walk toward me with Dan and their two beautiful boys — now a family on holiday from Queensland — was one of those full‑circle moments that fills you right up.

We began our session in the soft greenery of Hyde Park, where the morning felt slow, gentle and beautifully unhurried. The boys tucked into their parents for cuddles, wandered between the trees, and shared those cheeky little grins that only appear when kids feel completely safe and loved. Dan and Brooke moved through the park hand‑in‑hand with their boys, soaking up the quiet moments of connection that make family photography feel more like storytelling than posing. It was tender, warm and full of heart.

From there, we made our way over to a rooftop car park in the Sydney CBD — and the shift in energy was instant. With the crowds behind us and the whole open space to play in, the boys came alive. They chased bubbles that floated into the skyline, ran across the concrete with the biggest smiles, and let all that holiday excitement bubble over. The light bounced around us, wrapping the Hayters in this gorgeous, soft glow that made every moment feel joyful and free.

What I loved most was how naturally they moved between the quiet and the playful — a family completely at ease, simply enjoying being together in a city they love visiting. For me, it was a beautiful reminder of how life brings people back into your world at just the right time. A park, a rooftop, a holiday, and a whole lot of heart — the Hayters brought it all.
