Isla Turns One – A Sunset Beach Session in the Sutherland Shire
There’s something incredibly special about photographing a family over and over again and watching their story unfold one milestone at a time. For this beautiful crew, Isla’s first birthday session felt like the sweetest full‑circle moment. She’s their third little love, and I’ve had the joy of capturing every chapter: maternity, newborn, and now her big one‑year celebration. It’s the kind of gentle continuity that makes family photography feel so meaningful.
We met at their local Sutherland Shire beach, a spot that’s become part of their family history. The afternoon light was soft and golden, the kind that wraps around you like a warm hug. The older kids ran straight for the sand, Isla perched happily on a hip or a shoulder, taking in all the excitement with those big curious eyes.
This session was pure play, exactly how I love photographing families. We blew bubbles that drifted across the sand bar, chased giggles through the grass, and let the kids lead the way with their fun, carefree energy. Isla squealed with delight every time her siblings held her hands, lifted her up, or made her laugh. Those loving, natural moments between them are what make beach family photography so special – nothing forced, nothing posed, just real connection.
As the sun dipped lower, the whole beach turned dreamy. Soft greenery behind us, warm sand underfoot, and that glowing sunset that the Sutherland Shire does so well. Mum and Dad soaked up every second, holding Isla close, lifting her into the air, and sharing those quiet, gentle moments that say everything about this stage of life.
Watching Isla grow from a tiny newborn into this bright, bubbly one‑year‑old has been such a privilege. Photographing all three of their babies through each milestone feels like being invited into their family story and I’m endlessly grateful for it!
